| RUGBY WA WARNING REGARDING POOR BEHAVIOUR |

The following is an excerpt from an email sent by Rugby WA to all clubs today regarding poor behaviour by players, club officials and spectators.
Last weekend there was a total of 14 red cards issued in Perth. This in itself is disgraceful. There were also reports of several melees that occurred across all grades. Some of these melees involved people from the crowd entering the field of play. Further to this, there were several instances of referee abuse reported to us. At last night’s judiciary hearings there was a total of 74 weeks given out as suspensions. There were also monetary fines and a loss of competition points issued to teams who were either involved in melees or were responsible for referee abuse.
RugbyWA will not accept this type of behaviour from players, coaches, managers, club officials or spectators. As you can see from last night’s sanctions any group or individual who choose to engage in anti-social activity at any Rugby game are not wanted in our sport. Growing and promoting our game is incredibly difficult when we have individuals involved who can not behave in an acceptable manner. They will be driven out of our sport.
I ask that you address all your members and seek their full cooperation. Any reports of referee abuse, fighting, melees or anti-social behaviour will be dealt with swiftly and maximum penalties will be applied.
Fortunately no Palmyra people were involved in the incidents mentioned above however the Committee fully endorses Rugby WAs views and requests that Palmyra members and supporters continue to observe the traditions of the game of rugby and be good sports. Lets continue to regarded as one of the best rugby clubs in Perth for all the right reasons.
