ROUND 11 MATCH REPORTS
Friday, 2nd July 2010
First Grade took on a Wests team that was very different to the team they dispatched in Round 1. Wests have recently imported a bunch of frogs and some hairy poms so were going to be no pushover.

Razor, Eds, Jimmy and Jonny all scored good tries in a fast free flowing game played in perfect weather conditions at Tompkins Park. Jonny Alston the flying Scotsman picked up Player of the Day and Eds kicking boot did the business with 5 out of 6 over the dot. Eds played at fullback for much of the game with Scotty away on a Bankwest course. Slots was also rested and enjoyed the view from the grandstand.

Dalboy, Kiti, Jake and Nathan made solid contributions in a good team effort resulting in a 29-23 win. With the bonus point for 4 tries the team remains in 3rd spot on the ladder with a crunch game under lights next week against 4th placed Associates.

Second Grade had a tough encounter on paper against a Wests team one ahead of them on the ladder and it turned out that way for most of the match. Superb efforts and big hits by flankers Tai and Max set the tone for the day. Fraser and Harley were handfuls and caused as much trouble as they could for the opposition. Stu put in a Man of the Match performance scoring 25 out of the teams 40 points (2 tries and heaps of kicks). Final score 40-26 with the Pally boys running over the top of Wests in the final 20 minutes.

This team is shaping up really well and if they can make it into the four, have the ability to win the Premiership. It was great to see three of our Under 20’s (Gannon, Chevy and James) having an opportunity with the big boys.

Third Grade played top of the table Wests and had a very even encounter before losing out 0-17 in the dying stages. Ian Sammons had an absolute blinder at flanker and the team should be upbeat about their performance.

Fourth Grade had their usual enthusiastic effort and whilst they lost out 12-41 in the end seemed bouyant in the changerooms and bar afterwards with their team song resonating around the changeroom hall way. Jeremy Appleyard was the main playmaker for Pally with a try and 2 conversions. First Gamer Steve Jameson had a cracker at centre, we need to hang onto this guy.

Under 20’s lost out to top placed Associates 3-48 and the game was closer than the scoreboard suggests. Simple errors led to defensive breakdowns but the boys looked good in patches. A Bye next week should see them re-charge the batteries.

Under 18’s played a fast and physical match against Wests and narrowly lost 12-17. Coach Brian will have the boys up again for next weeks big game against Associates.
