| RUSS MILL - PALLY LEGEND |

Russ Mill (Millsy) has been playing and coaching at Palmyra for some years now and always surprises us with his enthusiasm for the game. He is part of a growing clan of Scotsman at the club.
His record for maximum participation is coaching a junior side and playing for four Palmyra teams in one day. He scored the winning try in Pally 4th Grades Grand Final win in 2007.
The attached photograph typifies his club spirit. In a recent 3rd Grade game Russ took on Associates 3rd Grade single-handed and put in a creditable performance only going down 3 points to 28 at the end. It was 3 all at halftime but our Braveheart was overrun in the second half. Battle of Culloden all over again with the bad guys winning (again)!
Russ comes from the northern Scottish village of Caithness where they have more viking blood than british. Chicken George Sutherland, our club captain also comes from Caithness and when they both left the local gene pool dropped by about 20 percent.
Russ currently coaches the 2nd XV at Aquinas College and plays for 3rds at Pally and any other side that will have him. He is regularly seen hanging around coaches during game time looking to get a run off the bench.
A good club man and a Pally Legend. We look forward to having his young son Logan put on some Pally kit in a few years time for the Under Sixes. |
