It's Friday, so that means only on thing!

MICHAEL MCDONALD

One to watch: William Sutherland

Michael and his family have been part of the Pally circle for a few seasons now. He, and twin brother, Andrew are the last remaining 2 of 4 McDonald brothers to represent the Palms. His breakthrough season came last year when he was selected for Perth Spirit - something he attributes to the coaching received earlier in his career from club disaster, George Sutherland. In his spare time he enjoys a round of golf with his dad and playing switcharoo with girls and his brother Andrew. He admits to enjoying a night out in Fremantle after a big win at Pally (which will probably explain why nobody has seen him in Freo for a while now). Something you might not know about him is that he and his brother were part of a complicated birth where Michael was born with only 1 testicle and Andrew was born with 3. A tricky surgery at the age of 6 saw the surgeon successfully rectify the biological error and the numerical balance was restored. Before joining Pally he previously played his rugby for his home town of Dundalk in Ireland where he still holds the record for most pints consumed by a minor, thanks to the help of older brother Gearoid.
As it stands, Michael is currently unavailable to play for 1 more week due to a head knock sustained against Cottesloe 2 weeks ago. He should return to the field next week to provide some much needed good looks to the team and help push the boys up the ladder.

This week he has selected William Wombat Sutherland as his “One To Watch”. Now, William currently plays his rugby in 3rd Grade but does enjoy Brokeback Moutain merchandise and can often be seen sporting his favourite cowboy hat whilst loitering in the corridors. Normally we ask for a Premier Grade player as the One To Watch but, given the connection with Brokeback Mountain, and Michael’s similarities with celebrity lookalike, Jake Gyllenhaal, the reason behind his selection this week seems fairly obvious.

At this time there was no need for further questioning as the 2 boys were unpacking their sleeping bags in a remote field, out of sight, and requested they not be bothered for a few days.

Aaron McPhee
Full name: Aaron McPhee
DOB: 22/02/1994 (24 years old)
Nickname: Azza
Celebrity Lookalike: Robert Pattinson
Pally Prem Grade Debut Year: 2018
Rep Honours: Hawkes Bay U20s, Hawkes Bay (Saracens) ITM B’s
Position: 6 / 8
Siblings: 1 brother ,1 sister
100m PB: 14s
Favourite drink: Corona
Favourite Movie: Green Street Hooligans
Favourite food: Lamb Roast
Previous Club: Napier Pirates

One to watch: David Neilson

Aaron is yet another recruit from across the ditch in Napier, NZ. What’s most surprising about Aaron is that, despite his infantile characteristics and mannerisms, he is actually a black belt in Taekwondo and is also a qualified Pastry Chef. It didn’t take long for him to make an impression at Pally. Having been vouched for by current players, David & Jackson Neilson, Aaron waltzed into Pally thinking he was going to run the show…fast forward 4 beers and then we meet “Azza”. There are 2 different personalities contained within one melted candle looking body. With arms like a t-rex and the legs of a flamingo, it’s the sort of combination as if when God was creating the world he simply ran out of compatible parts and simply ended up with the leftovers. When he’s not playing rugby, he does enjoy the safe practice of martial arts and is also a self acclaimed break dancing pro.
A product of Napier Boys High School, he arrived on West Australian shores full of promise and expectations, and to his credit, he has not disappointed yet. With a tireless work ethic and a willingness to do all “the dirty work” on the field, he has fast become a vital cog in the Pally wheel. Unfortunately for Pally the wheel seems to be square at the moment and has difficulty working properly, but he still tries his best. Azza is also currently seeking full time employment so if anybody is reading this that requires arms and legs, God has given you this leftover gift. Having spoken to him earlier this week he is motivated, hungry and eager to lend a hand wherever he can be useful. This level of eagerness derives from a desperation to get out of babysitting Bentley through the week, who he says has given him more grey hairs than a pensioner’s pillow.

He’s chosen his “One To Watch” this week as team-mate and housemate David (Duck) Neilson.

“I don’t really think that’s the case but Duck said he’d give me a tenner if I said his name…I’m unemployed so I had to take it. Truth be told I actually think Jackson is the better brother but since Toots went to New Zealand on holiday we never see him anymore”.
