The Junior Section of the Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Lee Barclay as the Club's Junior Coaching Coordinator for the 2012 season to continue the great work that Bernard Blanche achieved during the last 2 seasons.
For those members who don't know Lee yet I have listed some of Lee's rugby related credentials below which definitely shows that he has the pedigree to continue the club's development that saw Palmyra awarded the Champion Club of 2011.
Lee played for Stewarts Melville whilst attending school in Scotland before representing Stirling University for 4 years in the British Universities Cup, during which time he was selected for the Scottish Universities Under 19 squad.
He moved to Australia in 2007 and took up a teaching job at Ocean Reef Senior High School where he started their Specialist Rugby Program. In 2009 he became the Rugby Co-ordinator at Darling Range Sports College where, under his coaching, the various teams have won 6 State Titles in the past two years in both union and league.
In 2009 Lee also coached Kalamunda Reserve Grade to the finals before joining Palmyra Rugby Club in 2010 where he, again, coached the Reserve Grade to the Finals.
In the 2012 season Lee is looking forward to working closely with the coaches and players in the junior section of the club to continue their good work and to build momentum for future years. Lee hopes to assist many more Palmyra teams and boys meet their real rugby potential, and for the club to see a number of these boys go on and achieve representative honours.
Lee looks forward to supporting the junior coaches to assist with continuity between the grades so that, ultimately, the young men playing in the junior section will one day be wearing the Palmyra colours with success at a senior level.
The Club welcomes Lee to this role and wishes him well in the 2012 season.
