The Palmyra Rugby Union Club would like to announce a new coaching structure which sees Darren Reed appointed to Premier Grade Head Coach for the 2022 season.

The club is delighted to retain and promote Darren Reed to the Premier Grade Head Coach vacated by Jack Lloyd who is taking up a role with Rugby WA. In a new coaching structure, the club welcomes in Kolose Feaunati and Chris Heiberg as Darren’s assistants for 2022. Kolose comes to Palmyra from recent roles as Head Coach and Director of Coaching at Gordon (Shute Shield), West Harbour Defence and Skills Coach (Shute Shield) and various roles with Manu Samoa’s National Men’s and Women’s teams. Of course most club members will now of Chris who has been long term Western Force player and premier grade player at the club. Chris’s immense experience and knowledge will be an invaluable benefit to our forward pack next year. - Iain Kyle, President PRUC
The Director of Rugby role which will be filled by Justin Petersen who would focus on supporting all club staff, as well as growing the club Academy and Development programs.

Lastly, the club would like to acknowledge and thank departing coaches Jack Lloyd (Premier Grade) and Jerry Mataceva (Reserve Grade) for their tireless work and contributions to the club over a number of years.
Jack joined Palmyra in 2018 and was quickly promoted into the Premier Grade Head coaches role after the departure of Donny Stevenson. Jack has taken the Premier Grade team a long way in a short time, culminating in Premier Grade Semi Finals in 2020 and Premier Grade Grand Final in 2021. Jack was also named Rugby WA Coach of the Year in 2020.
Jerry joined Palmyra in 2017 as Reserve Grade Coach with immediate success going undefeated in 2017, winning both minor and major premierships in 2018 and being semi-finalists in each subsequent year till 2021. Jerrys passion for the club and his contribution to our culture has been immense over his time at the club.
The club wishes both Jack and Jerry well with their future ventures and thanks them both for their outstanding contributions to the Palmyra Rugby Union Club.
